Today .. Yesterday .. or Some Tomorrow – which do you seek?
Reality of this day .. today .. OR yesterdays pictures .. which do you look at? The Lord says – If “today” you hear my voice – DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEART!
Did Jesus ever depreciate the past history of the Jewish peoples .. the prophets, the history of the sactuary, the ark of the covenant and all it’s components – a giant tapestry of Jesus Christ – The Way, The Truth and The Life. Let’s take the large brazen alter made and designated for “sacrifice” .. where the lambs without blemish were sacrificed – another picture of Jesus – The Lamb of God.
The Tabernacle Itself – THe Holy Place, with the Golden Lampstand, and the table of Showbread .. the bread for the priest .. and The Alter of Incense .. what is this all about? Salvation? .. Cleansing? .. Holiness? .. or as you go deeper – Jesus Christ .. the One who lights our path .. the One who sustains us .. the One Perfect “sacrifice” ..
What about the SECOND VEIL .. and the Holy of Holies .. with the Ark of the Covenant .. the Mercy Seat of God .. how do we pass through the veil, and how does God commune and meet men?
Now look at Jesus .. The Way, The Truth and The Life – Jesus is Our Mercy Seat .. Jesus is Our High Priest .. Jesus is Our Atonement .. Jesus is Our Provider .. and as you look at the “historical Jewish record” .. God’s relationship with His people .. all sinners .. and how people longed for “atonement” .. a ritual of the Jews .. fancy robes, precious stones .. lots of beauty, power and symbols of strength .. The High Priest doing all his daily sacrifices .. bloody sacrifices .. then the High Priest cleansed himself and he put on “pure white linen” .. a symbol of holiness and purity .. here you see Jesus again … The Perfection of Jesus Our High Priest – the One Who Atoned for Our Sins – the One Who “intercedes” for us .. El Yeshuatenu, The God of Our Salvation .. The fullnes of Jehovah Tsidkenu – The God of Righteousness .. The God of Holiness .. Jehovah M’Kaddish – and The fullness of God having become man – we call His Name – Jesus!
Today what do you seek? Are you looking for salvation Today .. something you need to talk with God about some yesterday in your life .. or maybe you are trying to consider what you think might come in some tomorrow? For whom are you looking? Who do you seek?
The Lord says .. If today you are here .. read Hebrews 3:12-15 ..
12 Brothers and sisters, make sure that none of you has a sinful heart. Do not let an unbelieving heart turn you away from the living God. 13 But build one another up every day. Do it as long as there is still time. Then none of you will become stubborn. You won’t be fooled by sin’s tricks. 14 We belong to Christ if we hold firmly to the faith we had at first. But we must hold to it until the end. 15 It has just been said,
“Listen to his voice today.
If you hear it, don’t be stubborn.
You were stubborn when you opposed me.” ( Psalm 95:7,8 )
In closing .. Hebrews 9:11-14
