From the old days.. God’s Word in Genesis 2:24 says .. That’s why a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife. The two of them will become one. No doubt that God made “sex” .. and He meant it to be between a man and a woman in a totally committed life relationship .. and in our modern day – we call that .. marriage.
Corinthians 6:12-19 .. is a good reading on “Sexual Sin” .. I don’t have any idea how many times I have either thought about this passage of scripture .. or read it .. or prayed about it – but the bottom line is obvious – men are weak when it comes to sex, sexual sin, the opposite sex – cakll it any way you want – WE ARE WEAKLINGS!
The shrapnel and penetrating fragments of this IESD .. what I will call an “improvised explosive sexual device” .. or better known to men as WOMAN .. in so many ways sexual sins are like an IESD .. they are hidden .. they are sometimes deployed in ways that are hidden .. and your interaction with one is “unforgetable” .. sensitive and undeniably personal. It involves our body and our very soul.
Personally, I don’t believe that men or women can ever be, comfortably distanced from it – when it’s right we know in our knower .. and when not right, “we know that deep within” something is not right – That makes sexual sin especially complex.
But let’s get one thing very straight – VERY QUICKLY – There is no hierarchy of sins – there is no sin that is more acceptable to God than another sin – because no sin at all is acceptable to Our Father in Heaven .. But because sexual sin is a sin not only against God, but against our very own bodies, its consequences can be more devastating to us than those of other sins. If you steal a loaf of bread because your kids are starving this sin is outside of oneself. For instance, when Hitler was systematically attacking the continent of Europe during World War II, allied forces joined in a united defense. American soldiers fought and died on foreign soil, and the conflict certainly took its toll on our country, but we sustained nowhere near the damage that Britain or Austria or Poland suffered. Why?
Because the devastating losses and battles were not fought on our homeland soil. By contrast, battles over sexual sin are always fought at home – within the very soil of our own physical bodies and within our own psyche .. our vey own human soul, mind, and spirit.
There is no escaping the shrapnel and damage of sexual sin. Sex outside of God’s established parameters impoverishes a man or woman the way a war at home impoverishes a nation in many ways – we are all affected, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually .. because sex is probably the closest and most personal thing we possess – We can’t get away from it, it is deep within us.
