God is The God of All MERCY – El Malei Rachamim .. Our God Who Is Full of Mercy .. Our All Merciful God .. Our God Who has been merciful to us from our beginnings
To many, especially the Jewish People .. “El malei rachamim” is a funeral prayer – a Prayer for the Soul of the Departed .. A prayer of remembrance – where one prays that The God Who dwells on high will grant proper rest under the wings of the Divine Presence. However, to a Christian .. a Believer in The Lord Jesus Christ – The Son of God … Jesus of Nazareth .. The One who was .. the One who is .. The One Who Is To Come Again .. The Way .. The Truth .. The Life .. Jesus Is The Only Begotten Son of God .. and he became man so that we might have “life” and have it more abundantly .. have life everlasting (forever) through The Blood of The Lamb of God – we begin to see Jesus by the Power of The Holy Spirit .. and the Fullness of El Malei Rachamim ..
Just Think About this as a “Name” – El Malei Rachamim – Our God Who Is Full of Mercy .. Our All Merciful God .. Our God Who has been merciful to us from our beginnings ( even in our mother’s womb ) .. and we have been given and shown His Mercy in every moment of our lives ..
Let’s Consider Ephesians 2:1 .. God Has Given Us New Life Through Christ
2 You were living in your sins and lawless ways. But in fact you were dead. 2 You used to live as sinners when you followed the ways of this world. You served the one who rules over the spiritual forces of evil. He is the spirit who is now at work in those who don’t obey God. 3 At one time we all lived among them. We tried to satisfy what our sinful nature wanted to do. We followed its longings and thoughts. God was angry with us and everyone else because of the kind of people we were. 4 But God loves us deeply. He is full of mercy. 5 So he gave us new life because of what Christ has done. He gave us life even when we were dead in sin. God’s grace has saved you. 6 God raised us up with Christ. He has seated us with him in his heavenly kingdom because we belong to Christ Jesus. 7 He has done it to show the riches of his grace for all time to come. His grace can’t be compared with anything else. He has shown it by being kind to us because of what Christ Jesus has done. 8 God’s grace has saved you because of your faith in Christ. Your salvation doesn’t come from anything you do. It is God’s gift. 9 It is not based on anything you have done. No one can brag about earning it.
What we believe determines how we will act .. and live out our lives. To behave in a godly manner, we must embrace biblical truth. So let’s take a look at some basics of the faith and relate it to God’s MERCY towards all men .. and especially take a look at ourselves ..
Man’s relationship with God is broken, apart from Jesus Christ. When Adam and Eve rebelled, their nature became corrupt and alienated them from God. That “flesh” nature was then passed down to all subsequent generations, separating man from the Father (Rom. 5:12). On our own, we can neither make amends for our sin nor change our nature. No more than a leopard can change his spots ..
Salvation comes through Jesus alone (Acts 4:12). God’s justice required a penalty for sin, but only a sacrifice without defect would suffice. ( The Lamb of God ) .. Jesus, who lived a perfect life on earth, was uniquely qualified. He bore our sins and died in our place so we might be forgiven and adopted into God’s family. When we receive Jesus as Our Savior, we’re given a new nature, and Christ’s righteousness is counted as ours (Phil. 3:9; 2 Cor. 5:17).
The church today .. is Christ’s body .. and it is made up of born-again believers throughout the world (1 Cor. 12:13). All Christians are commanded to worship the Lord, care for one another, and share in the work of spreading the gospel. God’s followers are also given spiritual gifts to use in building up other believers.
If these truths are the basis for our view of life, we will find ourselves growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. Forgiving others will become a possibility and dying to self a more common occurrence. Ungodly traits will fade away and be replaced by the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23).
Take a moment to “reflect” on the Name of El Malei Rachamim – Our God Who Is Full of Mercy .. and recall all the “mercies” you have been shown in your days ..
